How to Make Yourself an Admin on an SCP: Secret Laboratory Server

Administrator permissions in SCP: Secret Laboratory are assigned through config_remoteadmin.txt. Once configured, you can use the in-game Remote Admin panel.

1. Find your SteamID64

Open your Steam profile and copy its link. Paste it into steamid.io and copy the steamID64 value — it is a long number beginning with 7656119.

Do not use your nickname or short SteamID. The server requires SteamID64.

2. Stop the server and open the permissions file

  1. Stop the server in the Mikasa Host panel.

  2. Open Files.

  3. Navigate to:

    .config/SCP Secret Laboratory/config/{ServerPort}/

The port number is shown on the server's main page or on the Network tab.

  4. Open config_remoteadmin.txt.

3) Add yourself to the Owner group

Find the Members: section and add a line with your SteamID64:

Members:
- 76561198012345678@steam: owner

Replace 76561198012345678 with your SteamID64. Keep the indentation used by the other entries in the section.

The owner group grants full access. For another person, you can use a more limited role such as admin or moderator, if that group exists in the current file.

4. Save and restart the server

Save the file and start the server. Join it with the Steam account whose SteamID64 is listed in Members:.

Press M to open Remote Admin. If the panel opens, the permissions were assigned successfully.

If Remote Admin does not open

  • Confirm that the SteamID64 is complete and ends with @steam.
  • Make sure you edited the file inside the directory for this server's port.
  • Confirm that the owner role exists in the roles section later in config_remoteadmin.txt.
  • Restart the server after saving the file.
  • If your SteamID64 is already listed in the file, correct that entry instead of adding a duplicate.

For roles and Remote Admin permissions, see the SCP:SL technical documentation.
