How to Install Your Own Map and Addons on the Server

Using Steam Workshop + Mikasa Control Panel

Adding a custom map is essential for a unique gameplay experience. This is done via Workshop collections, so everything needed loads automatically. Here's how to do it:

🗺️ Step 1: Find and Add the Map to Favorites

  1. Go to Steam Workshop for Garry’s Mod.
  2. Find the desired map (e.g., rp_evocity_v4b1, gm_construct_extended, etc.).
  3. Click "Add to Favorites" or remember the name.

🧩 Step 2: Create Your Collection

  1. Go here: Create a Collection.
  2. Click "Create New Collection".
  3. Enter a name, description, select category Garry's Mod and check "Maps".
  4. After creation — add your chosen map and any needed addons.
  5. Save and copy the Collection ID — it’s the number in the URL:

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=123456789
↑
this is the ID

⚙️ Step 3: Add the Collection ID to the Server Startup

  1. Go to the control panel.
  2. Open the Startup Settings tab.
  3. Find the Workshop ID field.
  4. Enter your collection ID there, for example:

🔁 Step 4: Set the Map in Startup Settings

  1. In the same Startup tab.
  2. Find the Map field.
  3. Enter the exact map name (without .bsp), for example:

rp_bangclaw

If unsure — check the Workshop page of the map, the filename is usually listed in the description or comments.

🔄 Step 5: Restart the Server

After making all changes:

  1. Click "Restart" in the panel.
  2. Wait 30–60 seconds.
  3. The server will boot with the new map and load the required addons from the collection.

💡 Tips

  • Make sure all addons are public. Otherwise, the server won’t be able to download them.
  • Don’t cram 1000 addons into one collection. It’s better to split into 2–3.
  • Test the map locally in singleplayer before uploading it to the server.
